Valerio Tedone is an Italian production sound mixer and film sound designer and he began his journey as a sound technician at the age of 16, working in theatre, studio recording, and live music at the Roberto Rossellini Professional Institute for Cinematography and Television in Rome. The school was deeply influenced by the legacy of Paolo Ketof, a pioneer in film sound and music between the 1960s and 1980s. It was here that he mastered the fundamentals of sound engineering and discovered his passion for cinema and sound design, guided by distinguished lecturers such as Roberto Tamburoni, a key figure in the great Italian theatre of Luca Ronconi and Giorgio Strehler. Following his graduation, he enrolled in the Sound Course at Cinecittà within the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (National Film School) in Rome. There, he completed a comprehensive 360-degree training in the sound workflow, spanning from on-set production to post-production. Under the mentorship of leading professionals in Italian cinema, he chose to specialise as a production sound mixer. His professional career took off immediately after his studies, collaborating as a sound utility and boom operator with top-tier Italian experts such as Alessandro Bianchi, Alessandro Zanon, and Alessandro Rolla and During this period, he worked on major sets including Gomorrah: The Series (Season 3), "Tenderness" by Gianni Amelio (La Tenerezza – Silver Ribbon SNGC for Best Sound), "Fortunata" by Sergio Castellitto (Un Certain Regard nominee at Cannes), and "Leonora Addio" by Paolo Taviani (Golden Bear nominee at Berlin). He is also a member of the A.I.T.S. (the Italian Association of Sound Technicians). In 2020, alongside Gianluca Costamagna, he won the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists Silver Ribbon (SNGCI) for Best Production Sound for Emma Dante’s film "The Macaluso Sisters" (Venice Film festival nominee). He has since served as production sound mixer for numerous prestigious Italian and international films and TV series at the age of 32, his portfolio already boasts over 70 film projects, including: Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe by Cosima Spender Selfie by Agostino Ferrente (David di Donatello for Best Documentary, EFA nominee) Windless by Pavel G.
