Re-Recording Mixer
Full Member / Chair / Fellow
Film and TV Re-Recording mixer working either from my own purpose-built mixing facility or freelance from the facility of your choice. I've done pretty much every aspect of sound post over the years and have a load of award nominations to back it up.
I'm probably the only Re-recording mixer ever to have played the sousaphone at Glastonbury Festival. I am a member of CAS, BAFTA, and RTS and served four years as Chair of AMPS.
Andrew Wilson joined the BBC Audio Unit in Bristol in the early 1980s, quickly discovering that post-production sound was his true calling. Recognised early on as a rising talent, he was soon enticed away from the BBC to join the dynamic new facility Films of Bristol (and later Films@59). With a growing reputation for excellence, Andrew later transitioned into the freelance sound world, basing himself at Peter Gabriel’s legendary Real World Studios—often accompanied by his dog, Shadow, a Weimaraner of exceptional intelligence and infinite patience.
As his loyal client base expanded, Andrew worked in some of the UK’s finest mixing studios, earning numerous award nominations along the way, including from BAFTA, RTS, and the Emmys. In 2015, he received two nominations at the Jackson Wild Media Awards, winning the prestigious Festival Prize for Disney’s Monkey Kingdom.
Andrew has also made a significant mark through his long-standing service on the AMPS Council, where he held roles as Honorary Secretary and Vice Chair before becoming Chair for four years. During his tenure, he guided the Association through the challenging times of the Covid pandemic and subsequent industry strikes, while strengthening ties with other leading organisations in the global sound community.
A commanding presence at any event—tall, impeccably dressed in his signature waistcoat, and a gifted raconteur— Andrew has both entertained and inspired those around him. His dedication, leadership, and unwavering support for the sound profession have left a lasting legacy.
Andrew has been an exceptional and tireless Chair, and he should be immensely proud of his outstanding contribution to the Association of Motion Picture Sound.
