2026 AMPS Mentoring Scheme, an initiative designed to connect less experienced members with seasoned professionals across all areas of audio.
For new members or those not familiar with the AMPS Mentoring Scheme, this initiative pairs members at different stages of their careers to facilitate meaningful connections and career development for new entrants.
At AMPS, we believe mentorship is a two-way exchange. While mentees gain valuable insights and guidance, mentors often find their own perspectives enriched by fresh ideas and experiences. Talking of their insights can reinforce a mentor’s own knowledge of their craft, whilst motivating and empowering a mentee.
About the Scheme
• Duration: March–September 2026.
• Commitment: A minimum of 3 sessions, scheduled bi-monthly conducted via Zoom, FaceTime, or in person.
• Flexibility: Pairings may be short- or long-term, with some relationships evolving into lasting connections.
The onus is on the mentee to schedule the sessions and be respectful of the mentor’s time. Some mentors will be able to give more and contact may continue naturally after the scheme but all are working professionals volunteering their time.
We will do our best to match mentees and mentors within the same geographical area to facilitate in-person meetings where beneficial.
Who Can Participate?
This initiative welcomes participants from all backgrounds and experience levels:
• Mentors: You don’t need to be a Head of Department to contribute meaningfully, experienced professionals like 1AS or Sound Editors make excellent mentors. The schemeV only runs with your participation and every AMPS member has something to offer.
• Mentees: Are you self motivated, keen to gain insights from an AMPS member and looking to further your own development through discussion?
Please note that this is not a work experience scheme and the mentor is not expected to employ or find work for the mentee. However, a mentee’s full engagement in the mentoring process can foster a lasting relationship of mutual respect that supports them throughout their career.
As this is a volunteer led scheme, there are a limited number of mentorship places. AMPS foundation members will be prioritised and if you miss out on this occasion, you will be given priority on the next round.
