Introduction to AMPS
The Association of Motion Picture Sound was formed in 1989 for the purpose of sharing information with Sound Professionals in the Motion Picture and Television Industry.
Based in the U.K. we currently have more than 350 highly experienced members from the industry covering Production Sound Mixers, Sound Designers, Supervising Sound Editors, Sound Editors, Re-recording Mixers, Music Mixers, Music Editors, Post Production Supervisors, Boom Operators, Sound Assistants, Foley Artists, and many other Sound Technician grades. We also benefit from the support of a number of Sustaining Members from manufacturing and associated commercial organisations to the Film and Television industry worldwide.
AMPS organises regular meetings on all areas of sound for Film and Television production and facilitates demonstrations of new equipment and technology. A quarterly Journal is published and circulated to all members, and articles from these are kept in the online archives for both members and non members.
We are constituted to raise standards and improve the professionalism of our craft, and all active members of our industry are encouraged to join us. We hope to raise the profile of AMPS internationally and attract wide discussion on professional Film and Television Sound related subjects.
