Recommended Standard Sound Equipment Package for TV Drama

Standard TV Drama Package (PDF)
The Recommended Standard Sound Package for TV Drama is provided to offer guidance to Production Management personnel.  Each Production will have its specific Sound requirements determined by consultation between the Director and Production Sound Mixer. Additional facilities not included in the Standard Package are subject to normal commercial charges.  Examples of additional facilities are appended.

  • File based recorder with a maximum of 6 tracks

  • Digital or Analogue mixer or appropriate mixing control surface

  • 4 diversity radio-microphone systems in receiver rack, with Lavalier microphones

  • Four microphones of various types, with suspensions and windshields where appropriate

  • 1 IEM Transmitter

  • 4 IEM receivers with headphones (2 for Sound personnel, 2 for Production)

  • Quality headphones for mixer

  • 2 boom poles

  • Small amplifier/speaker for localised monitoring

  • Sound cart

  • Video Monitor

  • AC and DC power supplies with battery chargers

  • Appropriate quantity of microphone cables, connectors, stands, etc.

  • Personal ‘set box’ (individuals choice of ‘gizmos’, clamps, tools, etc.)

Items of equipment that are NOT included in the standard package
but are additional items to be charged at normal hire rates

  • File based recorder with eight, or more, track capability
    (If replacing the ‘standard’ recorder, the difference will be charged)

  • Second audio recorder, for back-up, playback, etc.

  • Second mixer

  • Digislate, Lockit boxes, Master clocks, etc.

  • Amplifier/s and loudspeaker/s for playback sessions

  • Induction loop system

  • Extra radio microphone systems

  • Extra microphones

  • IEM receivers with headphones (in addition to standard complement)

  • IEM transmitters

  • RF Camera links (if not available from standard package)

  • Other specific equipment that duplicates any item in the basic package
