The VillageBox
The Villagebox is designed as an easy and reliable connection system
between the on-set 'video village' and a production sound mixer. It
provides 2 bi-directional composite 'confidence' video circuits and 2
bi-directional balanced line level audio circuits down a single cable
with a single rugged plug at each end. The circuits can be used for a
combination of video, audio and/or timecode. The VillageBox
does not
need any power and is built into a location strength extruded aluminium
box using top quality Neutrik connectors throughout. Because of the
adapted technology it is not designed for the delivery of transmission
quality signals but will pass excellent quality video with minimal
losses. |

By using the VillageBox it is possible to place IEM transmitters with
the video village and feed the audio to them down the
VideoVillage cable. By doing this the transmitters are kept away from the radio mic
receivers on the sound trolley. The return video is of course on the
same cable. As you realise, a single inexpensive cable does the whole
job. It is easy and foolproof!
The VideoVillage cables are hand-made with Neutrik connector shells
using a 'deployable' multi-pair cable approximately 6.5mm in diameter
(similar to normal mic cable). It is flexible, durable, and has a foil
screen which helps in those 'electrically noisier' environments sound
mixers encounter so often these days |

The cost is £145.00 per hand-built box (you
need 2 for a system) and the cables are made to order. |
